If someone breaks a contract, the person who suffers can get money to cover their losses. This money should cover the direct losses that happened because of the broken contract. You can't get money for losses that were not directly caused by the broken contract.
A hires B to deliver goods, but B fails. A can claim compensation for the loss of profit he would have made from selling those goods. A cannot claim for a loss of reputation.
