If someone breaks a court order meant to protect a person from domestic violence, they can be punished. The punishment can be jail time (up to a year), a fine, or both.

A husband, A, is ordered by the court to stay away from his wife, B. If A goes to B's house, he has violated the protection order and can be punished.
